Dr Alcock is an Interventional Cardiologist with a particular interest in the treatment of complex coronary disease, Sports Cardiology, and General Cardiology. He is the current clinical lead for the complex coronary occlusion program at Royal Perth Hospital and is also the Director of the Royal Perth Hospital Cardiac Catheterisation Lab. In recent times, Dr Alcock has developed a strong interest in Sports Cardiology which ties in well with his strong triathlon and cycling background.
Dr Alcock completed his medical degree with Honours from the University of Sydney in 2004. Prior to this he completed an undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy and worked for a period as a physiotherapist. He completed his Advanced Cardiology training at Concord Hospital, Sydney, and then remained at Concord Hospital to complete an interventional fellowship and a higher research degree in conjunction with the University of Sydney, being awarded his Master’s degree in 2013. Following this, he undertook a further Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the Edinburgh Heart Centre in Scotland. Dr Alcock commenced as an interventional cardiologist at Royal Perth Hospital in 2015 at which he maintains a substantive position, and joined the team at Hollywood Private Hospital in 2019.
Dr Alcock’s clinical interest and expertise includes all aspects of cardiology with a particular emphasis on complex coronary occlusions. He gained significant experience in complex coronary intervention whilst at the Edinburgh Heart Centre, a world-renowned hospital for these procedures. In recent times, Dr Alcock has developed significant experience in Sports Cardiology and athlete cardiac health. He himself has completed 6 Ironman distance triathlons and qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
